Overview & Highlights

Welcome to Cafe Traverse, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Königsdorf, Austria. Located conveniently at Grazer Str. 15, this delightful cafe is not just a spot to grab a quick coffee; it's a destination for those seeking warmth, comfort, and a genuine local experience.

As you step inside, you are enveloped by an inviting atmosphere accentuated by rustic decor and a laid-back vibe. The cafe offers a haven for anyone looking to unwind—be it over a good book, an engaging conversation, or a game of cards with friends. The charming interior creates a cozy backdrop that's perfect for both casual meet-ups and quiet moments of solitude.

Cafe Traverse delights its visitors with a variety of beverages and food options. As reviewed by patrons, their selection of fresh pizzas is highly recommended, catering to both large appetites and those seeking a light snack. Whether you choose to relish a slice of cheesy goodness or opt for a well-crafted toast, each dish promises to engage your palate with delicious flavors. The coffee here deserves a special mention; one visitor marveled at their coffee's quality, highlighting the owner's skill in crafting the perfect brew that’s invigorating and delicious.

With positive experiences flowing from guests, many customers reminisce about the friendly service they received. Walter Mader fondly remembers the excellent dining experience along with the friendliness of the staff, which has stuck with him for over a year. Such personal touches are what distinguish Cafe Traverse from larger, more impersonal establishments. On the other hand, some guests have noted a fluctuation in the warmth of service recently, which perhaps the owner can take as feedback to restore the friendly ambiance that patrons have come to cherish.

Additionally, the cafe is a point of interest for cinephiles, having been visited by the renowned director Wim Wenders during the filming of "The Fear of Goalkeeper at the Penalty Spot" back in 1971. This unique piece of cinema history adds an intriguing layer to your visit, making it not just a meal but a small part of a larger story.

Cafe Traverse is more than just a cafe; it's a community hub where stories converge over a cup of coffee. This unique blend of delightful culinary offerings, friendly faces, and a touch of history makes it a must-visit destination for both locals and travelers alike. Whether you're stopping in to refuel during a hike or looking for a comfortable spot to relax, Cafe Traverse promises to leave you with a lasting impression and perhaps even a new favorite go-to spot in Austria.

Visitor Testimonials (302)

Hallo!

Für alle Cineasten: Wim Wenders was here!

I stopped by only to get some water and coffee during our trail...and I was amazed. Genius loci of this place is really intense - I really liked the interior. But what was far beyond my expectations - owner speaks english, was really helpfull and makes a great coffee. I was very sorry I cannot spent more time there and to have some food.
